The affiliated faculty and staff of PETAL consist of current UM faculty and staff who present strong scholarly and pedagogic interest in teaching excellence. PETAL affiliated faculty and committee members pursue ongoing professional development on current trends in higher education, seek out research and publication opportunities to advance the knowledge base for excellence, apply new pedagogical approaches in teaching, and guide the implementation of teaching and learning initiatives at the University of Miami.
In partnership with UM's Academic Technologies and DCIE, PETAL teaching and learning initiatives are supported by instructional designers. Instructional designers assist affiliated faculty facilitators with PETAL's Institutional Academy for Teaching Excellence (I-ATE) workshop series and Course Mentors Programming.
